      Dynamics help; Strut tower brace.

A guy in my local club installed a strut tower brace on his 4th gen and he said it make the car oversteer. My first thought was this would stiffen the front end and act like stiffening the front sway bar or springs, which should reduce oversteer. But it seems the opposite occurred. What don't I know, how I am I misreading the effects fo the STB?

We can see no reason why that would be the case, particularly on the 4th Gen. We have an in-house test car 4th Gen and while the brace does stiffen up the overall steering feel a bit, it wouldn't make a huge difference in driving dynamics the way an addition of a larger rear sway bar would. Do you have any more details about his set up?

Ok, here is what he told me:

      iron block 6.0
      tubular k
      factory suspension
      275 40 17, and the psi is 32

The only thing added was the stb

How does adding the iron block impact things? I'm thinking adding wt up front increases understeer, but I suppose that assumes everything else such as alignment is ok (no complaints on alignment, but no #s available).
