      Need better autocross tires

My 3rd gen Nova is a daily driver that I like to autocross on occation. The suspension is setup for it and the slightly modified ZZ4 is putting out 363 ft/lbs of torque (80% of it between 1800 and 5000 RPM) and 328 HP at the wheels with a 6300 RPM red line.

My problem is getting the tires to stick. I have 234/45-17 in front and 255/45-17s in back. They are Falken 452 summer tires. I'm considering three options.

      1. Going with Bridgestone RE-11 or Dunlop Star Spec tires on my street rims
      2. Mounting 245/45-16 Hoosier A6s or BFG R1s on cheap 16 inch steel wheels
      3. Mounting 225/40-18 Hoosier A6s or BFG R1s on 2010 Camaro steel wheels

I can't really affort to do much more than those three options. What would you suggest. Are there other options that are cheap?

Not sure of the wieght difference. It is probably substantial. The rims are smaller and the tires are smaller in diameter, but wider. The 16s seams like the way to go. The 24.8 inch tire is about the height of the orginal factory tires.
