      Oil pan gasket bbc

I am reinstalling my timing cover and oil pan. I am using a 1 piece pan gasket. Do I still need to install the lower gasket for the timing cover?

No, the one-piece pan gasket has it's own "nipples" that go through the timing cover.

Not the best pic but you can see a little.

I did a Fel-Pro one piece gasket on a BBC about 2 weeks ago and had a leak around the first two bolts going in to the timing cover. It was leaking even before running the engine. I pulled the pan off and put silicon seal around all four corners. It sealed up and no leaks after 5 pulls on an engine dyno. My advice is to silicon all four corners of your pan.

      Thanks

Guys. Thanks for the info. I see the nipples, I get it now. I will silicone the corners. I would not have, so thanks for that tip.
