      Lil help here...

So my friend goes to the local car dealer and has his eyes on a 2007 Corvette. He likes it, and the salesmen unlocks the doors and lets him in. He closes the door and admires the interior for a few minutes when he attempts to get out and can't. I'll exclude his explative laced description and just say that he believes he did everything possible to get out of the car and couldn't. After a few humiliating minutes unable to get the door opened, his wife, who at this point is inches from cardiac failure from laughing at her husband that appears to be forever entombed in a shiny black vette, went to get the salesman. The salesman said that GM has installed a "proximity switch" in the new vettes and once the fob gets 30 yards from the car, it locks it automatically, even if someone is in the car.

It sounded a bit fishy to me. Can you really get stuck in a vette if you've forgotten the fob?

Not sure sounds a little fishy but a LOT funny. Using the electric or manual lock/unlock button should override the security but it wouldn't be the first time an engineer did something stupid if it doesn't.

I fail to believe that a car will forever lock you inside without some other means of opening the door from the inside. Perhaps I need to hang out with smarter people?

Maybe the engineer feels sorry for blonds because of all of the jokes they're berated with.
Next time someone locks their keys in the car and is stuck in there all night it might not be a blond just a vette owner whose fob is too far away.

C6 Corvettes all have a mechanical lever by the left side of the driver's seat, just in case the little push button ever fails, or the fob is lost.
