      What thermo switch?

I am going to control my Taurus fan with relays now, and would like to know what is the better brand of thermo switches out there? I think I like the cleanliness look of a switch that screws into near the thermostat versus the radiator probe (was thinking 185/170* ?). Although an adjustable one does have its benifits.

Let me know what you guys are running and how you like it.

      Thanks!

My plan is to have a bung welded into the inlet tank and attach my temp sensor for the fan controller there.

You need to choose what thermostat temperature you are going to use, then choose a fan switch accordingly.

For example, if you have a 180* thermostat, a 195*/185* would likely be a good choice. Something with a 185*/175* would not allow the fans to turn off once they turn on.

NAPA will have catalogs with various switches, on/off temps, thread sizes, etc.

      Thanks CarlC

I know I need to determine thermostat/switch temp, but what I was looking for was what brand of switches others were using and if there were better/worse ones out there.

Didn't want to purchase something and find out it is a piece of poo, nor get ripped off!!

      Thanks for the replies!!!

An OE replacement available from NAPA would work fine. They are very simple devices. I've run many and have never had a problem.

Sounds like an excellent idea!!! I will head to NAPA and see what they have, I'd much rather purchase a part that I can easily replace and not some goofy thing that I would have to order if I am out of town if something goes wrong.

Plus OE parts seem to last longer than some non-stock style stuff.

      Thanks again!!!

In the 1980s european cars like Audi and Saab used this type of sensor. It's metric of course. I tore the fitting out of a junkyard wreck and soldered it into the rad.

I've been using it for years.
