454 engine numbers - need help please
Guys I need help! The 454 engine I'm putting in my Chevelle has "N 14015445 " stamped on the pad on the front of the engine and "CGJ126752" cast in the back of the block. It came from an '86 Chevy truck. What is the stock Horsepower rating and Torque on my engine?? Thanks for the help. Shane

HP is low, I forget the actual number but I think it is 250 and the torque is around 450. It came with peanut plug heads, they have write ups in hotrod or PHR showing they make ok power, but I personally would throw them away get some 049's or step up to aftermarket heads. A stock 454 from 75-92 is only worth the block, crank, and connecting rods. Parts are reasonable for a gen IV motor.
