Pimp My Ride 55 Belair

Did anyone see this episode? When I saw that these clowns were going to "Pimp out" a 55 Shoebox I nearly cried. But, I have to say, this car was the first project these guys completedthat I could give a thumbs up to. They kept the car pretty much original looking with a tasteful interior and classic two tone paint job. Of course they had to do a goofy closet in the trunk but at least they did not chop up the dash to put a navigation system in it or something. I thought they did a pretty nice job. I would not mind seeing that car in my garage. Thoughts?

I agree, the car was done up pretty nice. Although from some of the episodes I have seen they do some crappy work as well, it's hard to tell. I remember when they did a 60's mustang they pop riveted the new floor in place instead of welding it like it should have been. From a camera view I though the 55 turned out good though.

You make a good point. Who knows what lurks beneath. I was surprised that they did some upgrades to the engine this time. Mostly bolt ons but they did put a new polished intake/carb set up and a Ron Davis radiator.

I think "Pimp my Ride" is just hi-freakin-larious. I have no expectations of craftsmanship. I just wanna laugh.

Living in So.Cal and driving the free ways from time to time, I have actually sen two of the pimp my ride cars. One was the red hatchback somethingthat they put a mercedes clip on and the other was the vww van. Both cars seemed to have major body waves and the overspray on the inner fenders was ridiulous. Also it seems that they both had a bad case of fat ladies ass because they hadnt been color sanded.

the car looks nice, but I cannot believe that they didnt upgrade the cars brakes and put 20s on it. 55s are hard enough to stop as is. I see a lawsuit in someones future.

I will be curiouse to see how the paint holds up. They didn't show any of it being done, but if it is anything like their other projects, it probably won't hold up for long. Did anyone see the episode with the 80's suburban they did? I just shook my head as they filled a 3x3 inch rust hole in the roof with bondo and then called it "fixed".

Just an update. I saw the episode again last night and as far as detail goes the gap at the trunk was awful, and as mentioned before the paint was not color sanded. When they opened the hood you could see alot of orange peel. I watched that part a couple times (Tivo) to see if it was just the light reflecting. Nope, looked like crap. But, as a 10 footer it is a killer looking car.

you can see on some of the cars where they dont even paint the door jambs. theres quite a few pimp my ride style cars rolling around indy and it seems like as long as its got 20's + you can lay the paint down with a brush as long as its got pearl in it and it fits the bill, have never seen a ride of this type that looked good up close.

Well, they do look better than when they went in. I liked the Yoga teacher's car more before than after. She was not bad either.
