      Mini starter required?

I was running a stock GM starter, it would get hot from the headers and not engage until it cooled down. A friend had a mini starter I could use. I put it in, but regardless of shimming, it never quite worked perfect. 30% of th time it would "clang" and not engage.

I am wondering if I invest in a new mini starter or go back to the stock starter, but am concered about the heat issues.

Swap in a remote starter solenoid and use the stock starter, lots of kits out there or you can hunt down the parts yourself.

I had posted a similar thread earlier and their recommendation was a high torque mini starter, 1 awg wire to the starter from the battery. My headers are also ceramic coated to help with the heat issues.
