Help with a braille battery mount

Whats going on guys....I'm working on relocating my battery to the trunk. I was going to purchase the optima battery kit from Detroit Speed with the billet mounting tray. I've been reading all the problems you guys are having with the optima batteries not holding a charge. I actually purchased a red top about a year ago, but I had problems with it losing it's charge. I went through 3 of the red tops before just buying a regular battery from Autozone. I've seen threads that say they haven't had a problem with their Optima, but I think I seen more saying they've had problems. Bad paying that price for a battery and having problems with it.

I've seen a couple threads on the Braille battery, and I like the size of it. Here's my dilemma....I want the Braille battery part #B3121, but I don't like the aluminum mount for that size. I like the Braille billet mount like pictured below, but it says it only fits part #B106, B2015, and B14115.

Does anybody know of anybody who makes a billet mount for the #B3121? The website for Braille gave the dimensions for the #B3121 as 6.6 x 5.2 x 6.8 if anybody knows of a mount to fit that let me know.

We can help you with the battery. As we are a dealer for them. The 3121s are are on our web site. You can purchase right on line. As far as the mount goes. Yes Rad Rides by Troy builds a tray that is really nice. Very close to the one you posted.

Thanks for the information...let me ask you this. Would the Braille B2015 battery be powerful enough to do what I need. This stuff is like a second lanquage to me.

You will want the 3121 so you have enough reserve power and the extra cranking amps to make up for the distance from the trunk. You will also want to get large fine strand welding wire to make the resistance lower and less of a voltage drop.

So far I haven't had a problem I can complain about but when tuning the car it had a hard time starting for over ten minutes and the battery did go low enough to need a jump. That is not a lot of reserve power but it had cranked longer than I would have expected it to and other batteries may not have done any better from experience. The smaller one would have been dead a lot sooner.

Materials from Metal Express would probably be around $30 to $40 at the most for you to make a tray and then it is just a little machining ,drilling and tapping. Not much to a battery tray.

So far all of the Braille batteries that have been sold through the HotRod Shop have made everyone happy so far. They have been in all kinds of applications too.

I do know that I will be carrying a set of jumper cables for awhile just in case I have a starting problem, but that is what you should do when you first get a car out that's unproven.

After a lot of research....I went with the Odyssey PC1200MJT. Didn't find anybody that gave it a bad review. Thanks for the offer on the battery mount though. Keep in touch and we can meet up and look at the Camaro's....with all this rain maybe real soon.

The Odessey batteries have a bit more power and it will be interesting to see what the full charge voltage is on yours?

I am looking at getting the car out next week as soon as I get the end of my drive fixed. The salt got washed off the roads today and there is more rain on the way. The sun is supposed to be shining soon too. I can't wait to feel how it will run.

Maybe we can meet up somewhere soon and have a beer and a chat.

Always a good day drinking and talking cars. Mine will be out as soon as I get my Wilwood brake package and get it installed.
