Sound deadner under the gas tank?

I'm reading up on all the sound deading appoaches in the search engine and working on calling vendors. One thing that I read was the trunk is a huge culprit to strucher born noise. Was wondering if anyone has ever tried putting a dampner on the trunk floor above the gas tank. Seems like a good way to keep it hidden.
