heidts vs others?

I planed on using heidts front control arms and there four link for my first gen. I havent read any posts about anyone using their products in their pro touring builds and im wondering if im better off using hotchkis or maybe another company? Do they have a good name in the pro touring community? I already have the narrowed control arms so i hope no one has anything negative to say about them. Any info would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I think you're going to find that Heidt's is not a big name in the higher end pro-touring cars. For control arms, most guys are running: DSE, Speedtech Performance, Hotchkis, Global West, SC&C in no particular order. As for subframe set ups: DSE, Speedtech, Art Morrison, Chris Alston, Jake's, etch. Rear end set ups that are really popular are of course DSE, Chris Alton, Prodigy Bar all for triangulated 4 links, Speedtech and Jake's (I think it's Jake's) have a torque arm set up that has been getting get reviews, Art Morrison has a great 3 link. I'm sure I'm missing a few in there. You'll notice several common names, but from what I have read, Heidt's and CPP are on the lower end of things. I have a Speedtech Performance subframe and a prodigy bar triangulated 4 link and so far am really impressed with both. I would recommend giving Frank at www.gpsuperstore.com a call. He goes by ProdigyCustoms on here. He really knows what he's talking about and sells most of the major products.

Agreed,hiedts is basis driver stuff, We have put them on cars and ended up changing to DSE. World of differance.

Unless you haver changed your design in the last year or so, it still will not run with DSE or TCI for muxcle cars. Been There done that, sorry. Stick with the steet rod stuff.

I don't know what you have or what parts you are planning to run, but I'm of the opinion shorter control arms are the wrong direction.

I kind of think this statement is pretty inconsistent with most of the other suppliers on this site. Taller than stock spindles, which tend to improve negative camber gain in roll, and bump steer modifications that minimize it'simpact, are the kind of stuff most of us are looking for.

So if you want your car to handle just as good as stock......

I don't care if Heidts enters the arena with the kind of products I personally want, I'd welcome it. It would improve the market by adding competition and probably more options. It's just that it doesn't appear, from their published information, they are making the kinds of parts that I want, and apparently have a pilosophical bias against manufacturing that type of product.

So the question i guess, is do you want to build a Pro-Touring car, or a car that looks like a Pro-Touring car? Your answer should dictate the products you purchase.
