Need a Helmet

Are helmets with a removable liner a desireable feature for keeping clean or are they a pain for other reasons? Bell has the removable liner as do the Pyrotect with the removable cheek liners.

Impact Racing has the memory foam and I am wondering if anyone has experienced them and think they are better?

By law, you can carry a parachute on an airplane, so a helmet should be fine.

Speaking of which, I wonder if my Carbon Fiber skydiving helmet would pass tech?

I'm really liking the Bell Sport Mag open face model 5403

it can be found easily at the link below I posted by going to helmets then Bell.

I also like the pyrotect model 5402 which is on a closeout for $101 and is designed by bell.

The Impact racing open face helmet is nice at $224 but it doesn't say you can remove the liner and I like that feature. It does have memory foam and that sounds more comfortable and better fitting and would probably be the main helmet I use for a long time.

Like I already said I am looking to later get a really good helmet later as I know I will need a passenger helmet someday for someone and the new date changes will make the helmets much less expensive when the new ones come out and I can pick up a really good new one then good for the next 5 yrs.

I really do need to save $$$ as much as my head.

I just bit the hook on the Pyrotect helmet for $101. Normally $149 most places and is like the Bell in a lot of ways that is $200.It comes with a helmet bag and free shipping and the reviews are all pretty good for them.

I also decided that it would be smart to put the savings to a good purpose. A Fire extinguisher, I got the H3R -HG 250 R2.5 Halguard clean agent so it won't leave the dry chemical residue. It was only $139 and from what I reasearched is a great bargain for that size unit. For what it is worth, the 2.5 lb dry chemical extinguisher was $59

Hopefully I will never have the real need for either but the likelyhood of a fire is as much as a crash so now I am covered at least at the bare neccessities with some really good equipment.

It's really hard to beat Discoveryparts .com from what I could see.

There's more than just the lack of fire protection most sanctioning bodies won't accept an M rated helmet. It's primarily for the fact that M rated lids don't meet rollbar impact standards.

It was interesting to see that the events I am attending this year will accept an M helmet as good to go. It is however an obvious plus to have a better helmet.

The deal I got on my Pyrotect helmet was incredible and it is fully approved so there is really no price reason to go with an M rating.

Having spent about 10 years on street bikes, I've had a variety of helmet brands and for some reason the HJC line always seem to fit my head the best. I recently bought a nice full face HJC AR10 from OG Racing.

Fortunately for me, I'm near an OG store so I was able to go in and try on a bunch of different brands for a perfect fit. If there's any way you can try on a few different helmets before buying, I highly recommend you do so.

Has anyone purchased a G-Force Pro Eliminator helmet?

I'm considering purchasing one. I have a small crainium and I wear glasses. I don't know of anyone locally that sells SA rated helmets unless some motorcycle shops do. I'm in the St. Louis area. I'm curious how it fits, comfort, viewing angle, etc.

I like the fact that it doesn't have a lot of contours or vents so it will be easier for me to airbrush. I just don't know if the lack of vents will make it uncomfortable. I'm only going to use it at the Pro-touring events so I don't think I'll have it on for real long periods of time.
