      Anyone seen this month's HotRod?

      Page 54, center column!

OK, I know this will stir the pot here but............
I think Rob's comments are dead on. I know some here have not liked Hot Rod's opinions of Protouring. However, if the true hurts, then fix the problem. They have always been of the opinion that we are all show and no go, basically because for the most part I think they were right. I am sorry, but if your car is too nice to get wet, too slick of a paint job to drive, then why the hell did you build a car, why not just buy some art. It takes up much less space and easier to maintain. Suddenly, after five years, we are getting some recognition for actually driving the "Touring" cars. If we are very careful, we may actually live up to our name. I think it is great that the main stream media is paying attention to us. Now, in April, we have the chance to really step up, in their backyard and strut our stuff. We will have a golden chance to show everyone we are for real, and there to play. You know, I would love it if there were no trailered cars there actually. If you can not drive your car 50 miles, IMO, what good is it.
So, if you are in the LA area, please, do your part to support our/your hobby. Lets show everyone we are for real and are here to stay.
There will probably be at least one or two crazys that drive across the country too so, who wants to step up and carry the flag? I will promise one thing, if you drive more than 2000 miles on your trip out and home, you will become one of the true protouring RAT PACK. More on this later, but whether you drive in from LA or Lower Alabama, please, drive in.
      See ya'll there.

Uhhhmmmm, Steve, I think you have beat on your car and wrenched (needed or not) on her enough to get a 1000 mile credit to your name! OK OK extra 500 for another engine as more power is always good!

Just wish I had a car even close to being done or enough time to drive out.

x2..Albert.... Bill is dead on and many have built pieces of art..I for one have yet to beat on my car but just talking about this the other day that this was the year to get it out of the garage and blow off the dust and see what all that money invested can do....Things can get fixed..Why do we invest in the best pieces for speed and handling and only show them? No trailer Queens allowed..

      All righty then !!

This is a call out .... lets hear it for Bill ( applause )

If its not driven, you might as well go buy a crying baby and a comfortable folding chair.

I'm about to enter my 3rd racing season. I put close to 5k on it last year alone, hrpt long hauler, RTTH 5, Motorstate challenge, several local racing events, ect ....

The car is still in primer, still has a big dent and I'm upgrading its driveability / performance prior to worrying about comfort and looks ............... Who's with us?

What are the dates in April. I'm running One Lap of America from April 30th-May 8th in the Charger... that would a trip though right. Drive from 3000 miles from NY to LA, then back Indiana for one week of racing in One Lap then back home to NY. Hell, that would be over 10,000 miles in a month on the old boy and ya know what... I'D DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT!

I can't say that I'll be going to anything in CA anytime soon since I'm in Alaska, but I did drive my mustang from El Cajon CA to Seattle. THe day I bought it I hit the road and three days later and 1400 miles I was in seattle to ship the car. Does this qualify for the Rat Pack? Granted it wasn't as beautiful as the cars I see here, but the drivetrain is the same and is now getting paint.

The lightbulb went on for myself when Bill and I were coming back from Nashville Goodguys about two years ago. We were towing my car (Posion Dart)back in Bill's trailor when all the sudden Kyle and Stacy come flying by us in their 69' Camaro heading back home to North Carolina. We looked at each other and said "that's what I'm talking about". Early that day, we had seen them thrash on their 69' Camaro in the autocross. Since then, Bill has finished the Charger, I bought Rupp's Fairlane, redone the suspension and we drove our cars w/ friends to Vegas and back. So, I have to agree w/ Bill, not only is it time to prove our cars, but to also showcase the vendors products that support our hobby.

We should create an award at the end of the year for the Pro-touring car/owner that attends a agreed minimum number of the qualifier events, drives more than X,XXX miles to at least one event and places the most miles on their car in that year.... Just a thought...
