      Need some opinions

I am looking to build a 1969 firebird convertible.

In the past I have done a few other cars but nothing in the pro touring nature.

I have a very rare RA firebird and a turbocharged 1969 hardtop thats more of a street strip car and run in the 9's.

The problem with that car is its mini tubeed and worthless with my family on a weekend at home.

So what I have is a 1969 firebird thats been done to driver quality and thats using the term "quality" loosely.LOL

I bought the car basically painted and the rest needs to be redone. It boasted that it had new floor pans but they were done badly, has subframe connectors, landrum fiberglass leaf springs out back, new vert top, new windshield, paint and body is ok not great.

engine is a stock 350 with aftermarket carb and intake, stock TH350 and stock 1 legger rear.

It will get a 455 with twin or single turbo(S) eventually because I sell turbos wastegates and BOV's so it just makes sense.LOL I also moderate the forced induction forums at pontiaczone.com since 2005.

this is gonna be a low budget build over time. My boat and race car take up most availble funds but I wanted something to enjoy with the family and to daily drive.

I have looked into full framing it since I will need to dig into the floor lans anyway at some point, I have 17 inch torque thrust on it already so will stay with those for now.
      anyone used autoweld frame rails?

what do you guys think about brakes?

      rear diff?
      Trans Th400
      GM480le?
      Th200R4?
      Th700R4?
      6 speed?
      4 speed with gear venders?

      Lots of possibilities.

The only thing I know for sure is it will stay all poncho power even though I am a big fan of LSX's

      thanks for any help guys

This was only a 9.97 but it was OK for the first day out with the fuel injection on pump gas and very conservative tune.

With all of the toys you have to go fast and the intent is to take the family in the convertible, I would think an LS motor would be the best choice because of the drivability and better mileage. It would have more than enough power and be just plain less problems I would think including less cost and easier packaging?

Your wife might even like driving it if it is a bit more tame?

If you want to keep it Pontiac, but turbo it that would be awesome, way too many LSx conversion.
Dont get me wrong, its cool folr some, but a low compression 400, stroked, with 2 small turbos to keep it reasonable, swap in a 4L80E with paddle shift, set it up with 18s all around, Kore 3 for adapters, then add in the big Vette rotors front, use the S10 rear disc so you can swap in 15s for some 1/4 play.
Keep it simple, clean, oh and for a turbo Poncho give Evans Cooling a call for coolant, trust me it works.

by the way you say you sell turbos, ever had any dealings with cheap sold on ebay, I am looking at used ones twin, T04B Vtrim (i think is designation)with integral wast gate or similar, I am building a 283 to go in a Monza but I want it to run well with no;ittle lag.

Sorry got cought up with a big work project and couldnt get online much.

I dont do anything with Ebay turbos, but I do sell Brog warner, garret and full custom Blue-printed USA built turbos.

I have some killer prices ( BW S475 $575.00) check me out on pontiaczone.com I have sold most everyone on there their turbos!

I will definately be staying pontiac with this car but the suspension is probably the part I have the biggest questions on?

Anyone running air ride stuff? Have you drag raced / auto crossed etc with it.

I thought Id be getting tons of feedback on this site.
