      Backspacing on 71 Firebird

My shell will finally be coming home from the body shop this week and I plan on having it back together to measure for my wheel order soon.

The car is lowered 2" with a Hotchkis system, has a 80 T/A rear end and Wildwood brakes all around. I am looking to go 18x8 front and 18x10 rear, 245/45/18 and 275/40/18.

I have had some discussions with Jason @ Rushforth (great guy) and we estimate the the backspacing required to be 4.75 front and 5.75 rear. But I am being superparanoid since you only get one chance to get this right.

Anyone have any useful input on the backspacing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

We do a 4.5 BS on the front of those cars and push the wheels out a bit. The factory 8" wheels on the later 78 and up cars were 4.5 BS. Same fenders. The 4.5 BS will give you a better front of tire to fender priofile and avoid that sucked in to far look.
