Gran Turismo 3 screen home simulator

Don't know if anyone is a fan of the Gran Turismo series, but I remember lusting over the multiple monitor option a few years back. Three monitors for one game. It could even be set up with a LAN configuration for several people to play.

Three TV's, Three PlayStation 2's, Two Link cables, One GT steering wheel/shifter/ pedals, and Three copies of the game. Major bucks for this set up only 5 years ago!! since used Playstation 2's can now be had for chump change, this set up (aside from the TV's which continue to plummet) should only cost a couple hundred bucks. Think I'm gonna hop on craigslist.

      (picture it with 3 32" LCD's )

How does it work with three differnt consols? How do you get three differnt views? Do you have to hit start or something at the same time?

      Any info for the PS3?

I would think the PS3 should have that capability with some monitor splitters and and 1 console.

The set up for Gran Turismo 3 is different than Gran Turismo 4. For both, you can have

      *1 player, three screen view
*up to 6 players, single screen per player (One of the 6 monitors can be a dedicated audience monitor for viewing the race)

For the 3 monitor single player mode for both versions of the game, you need at least 3 T.V's, 3 Playstation 2's, and Three Copy's of the game.

With Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, you need the older (pre SCPH-9000 model) with the front "S400" port that the I-link cable plugs into, since the newer slim version doesn't have this port, Three I-Link cables, and a 3 to 6 port Firewire hub

With Gran Turismo 4, You link them up with the a PS2 network adapter (one for each console), a Ethernet Hub, and CAT-5 cable. If you have the older fat PS2 (pre SCPH-9000 model), you will have to buy a network adapter for each console. The newer slim version has it built in.

falcon65, the PS3 was initially planned to have duel HDMI outputs (a well as some other kick ass features), but was axed due to manufacturing costs that were already sky high.

Theoretically, the PS3 could output 2 separate outputs to two monitors using the HDMI and component cables IF the hardware was capable of seperating and processing the two (which is possible if the duel HDMI support was yanked after the processor architecture was designed). A Firmware update could enable it.

Since this feature is only used in a couple games, in which a tiny percentage of the players have ever even hooked up, don't count on it.

Forza 2 for the XBox 360 has the feature as well, but you also need 3 360's and 3 copies of the game $$$$$$
