      Alibre Design Standard

      Wasn't sure where to put this so if it should be moved, go ahead.

      Curious if anyone is currently using, or has in the past, Albre Design Standard. I don't have the bankroll for Solidworks and Alibre Design Standard is on sale through December for $197. Biggest reason for the use is the design and layout of the independent rear suspension I'm planning for my Dart. Also considering a custom front suspension and may use it for that too. I'd likely use it for other miscellaneous parts as well. It has a motion simulator which may prove beneficial for the suspension pieces as well.

      Just wondering if there is any experience and what the feedback is.

      I dabbled with the free trial and really liked it. Unfortunately at this point I'd rather put that money into car parts but would seriously consider buying it at that price should they do it again some time.
      Cars are meant to be driven.

      You won't get much more out of the $197 version than you will the free version.

      I liked it, but not nearly as much as Autodesk Inventor 10, which is what I currently use.

      CATIA is badA$$. Its what I use. Kinematics and everything.

      Ive aquired a few different cad softwares and am self taught.. by no means effiecient at 3d but 2d I can wing.. Ive gotten inventor 2010, autocad 09, and autocad 3dmax 2010 was given to me... i lost catia, or gave it to someone who wanted it i forgot..
      I mainly use 09 for flat brackets and 2010 for 3d stuff and sheetmetal bending.. pretty neat stuff..
