      TH400 Location issues

I’m replacing my 700R4 with a TH400. I bought a crossmember from G-Force and an aluminum driveshaft from Inland Empire, both for a 1st gen Camaro with a TH400. I got the bell housing bolted to the block and the play/location of the torque converter is fine. I go to bolt up the cross member and it is not lining up; the transmission tail sticks out about 1/2” too far. I’m thinking they were off on the crossmember bolt holes, but decided to check the driveshaft as well. I slip the yolk in as far as it will go and I still need another 3/4”, just to get it bolted to the rear u-joint, which means it’s about 1.5” too long (if I want some play in the slip yolk). The engine is a SBC 350 with a stock front clip. I did install polyurethane engine mounts and Hotchkis rear springs, but had no fitment issues with the old driveshaft (not to say that it didn’t move).

When I switched from the original power glide to the 700R4, I just measured for the drive shaft and had it shortened (I didn’t buy a pre-built driveshaft).

I can’t figure out why it is so far off, with the above parts. Has anyone had similar issues when switching transmissions?

As far as the trans mount is concerned, are you using the bolt holes in the frame closest to the rear of the car? It's been almost twenty years since I swapped out the 'glide, but it seems to me that it used the front two holes per side and the same crossmember as the TH350 which is completely different from the TH400/4 speed crossmember which used the rear two holes per side.

On the driveshaft.......Do you have the short tailshaft housing or the long tailshaft housing?
