      LS1 Short block

Hey guys, my buddy recently acquired a 98 TA with some motor problems. He believes it is a spun rod bearing. He has already purchased a new short block, and is in the process of swapping it out. He said I could have the old short block for free. Would it be worth it after the work that would have to be done?

If I bought it I would most likely run a carb on it to simplify things and keep costs down. I have a stock 2001 LS1 cam laying around as well. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I am on a super tight budget.

Not sure where you are at but a spun rod bearing can be quite cheap to fix. As long as there is no bore damage you can get by with a rod, used crank, gaskets, etc.
