making a disc from Accel DFI....

I haven't gotten my program from the tuner because he can't get the ecu or his laptop to put a file on disc. I have tried to get a file to go to my laptop too make a file and am having problems.

Have any of you had the same problems? How did you do it if you did? We keep thinking that it should be easy but maybe we are missing something? it should be straight foward and simple but it is being a pain.

Will it work with a thumb drive?...find the file and drag it or copy it onto the thumb drive.

Thumb drives are pretty cheap these days and he could mail it to you, if the file size is giving your email troubles. There are file splitters / reuniters for large files but I won't go into all of that.

I'm hoping you can make that trip so he can tune it in person (real time if possible) and then save an extra copy for you in case of a future ECM emergency.

That might be a possiblity, you never know what the ecm is going to like and not like. The big problem is just getting the file from the ecu to the computer, getting it from there to another ecu is a whole other obstacle. I am looking at driving 70 miles to see him. I have most all of my problems worked out and then another comes up or the same old problem won't go away like this EFI.

I keep trying everyday to get something done and at least others have noticed when they go for a ride.

Does the ECU want a serial connection? If so, and if you're using a serial to USB adapter, good luck.

Maybe Jim can elaborate, but I think the USB plug was damaged or something when he dropped his laptop.

I've moved many DFI files around, but always save them to the hard disk first. I wouldn't be sleeping well until I had a back-up copy of my tune somewhere.

I recall reading on another forum that only certain USB/serial adapters work. I bet if you google Accel DFI USB you'll find them.

Saving it to the ecu hard disk fist might be what has to be done to make it to another file. The one file it let me save was to itself, maybe I can get it to send or save to disc somehow.

On the tuners end it is the same problem with another ecu he has already worked up a program in for me. I am looking to drive to where he is at or pay him to come up here and do it. It is getting cold and it is an hour drive one way. Riding in the car and staying warm is no problem, it's having something go wrong and working on the car in the cold.

I am going to get my serial port laptop fixed so I can use it to maybe solve the problem?

One way or another I am going to get a better tune on it.
