      Camaro cowl hood

I know that there a "lot" of Camaro owners on this sight, so tell me if you are one of the lucky ones to have an original first gen cowl hood. Do your lines match up on the back of your hood to the rear cowl? I have yet to see one at a show yet that doesn't. They all raise up heading toward center. I have been told that the originals do fit but I met a guy that swore that it was an original hood and it did not. The local body man said he will make my aftermarket hood fit for $800.00(ouch). I was thinking that I could maybe pick up an original for that amount. If you are one of the guys that has an original I would appreciate the advise.

I've got a original hood for mine. However it's still in the box in the basement so I can't help you with the fit. I do know that the average going price is right at $1000.00. I bought mine a couple of years ago before the sudden price hike.

All the recent GM cowl hoods bulge up in the center. I have one made in the early 90s that sticks up about 1/4 inch and another made in 2006 or so that sticks up 3/8 or more. As the tooling wore out they fit worse and worse.

No original hood here. Mine from the early 90s also raised up. I found that a good primer black carport paintjob not so meticulously performed will hide any hint of it. oh and a big dent in the rear of the car draws your eye away as well.
