      G-Body Rear Disc Conversion Questions...

      I'm researching a budget-friendly rear disc solution for my '88 Monte SS, and found the Ed Miller brackets (http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i30.html) that use LT1 F-body parts. They are PBR calipers with an integral parking brake and 11.8" rotors. I have a few questions though, and hopefully someone here has definite answers.

      1. Will this setup work on a lowered car with stock frame and fenderwells?

      2. Is it possible to hook up the parking brakes without hacking the frame or fenderwells?

      Parking brake feature is a must on whatever setup I get, since my car has a manual trans. Thanks in advance!!

      I don't have any personal experience with that kit on your application, however have you already tried to PM "ebmiller" or contact him through his website to ask? That's probably where I'd start. I believe Baer makes a similar kit as well.

      I was hoping someone here had already tried it so I wouldn't have to bother Ed. I did e-mail him a day or two later and heard back yesterday that the kit will work (parking brake and all), as long as you relocate the shocks a bit inboard - he has brackets for that also, so it's pretty much a bolt-on kit. I'm waiting to hear back on the parking brake cables, and then I'll pull the trigger on the setup to install over the winter.

      I have the "LT1" rear F body calipers on my Monte but am using BAER's brackets. Other then the brackets I used mostly stock everything else. I had to make new rear hard lines that mount on the rear because the caliper hoses use a metric mushroom head end flare that I couldn't make. So I bought metric flared lines from autozone & bent them to fit & double flared the center ends where it mounts to the T on the rear. I also used Baer's shock relocation brackets to clear the calipers. I have the cables for the E brake, but haven't hooked them up yet. I have cables from a mid 90's Impala SS to use. No problems with it being lowered, the brackets you have the link to look pretty much like the ones I have. Obviously you will have to take the axles out to get the brackets on, while they are out have the end flange chamfered so it will fit inside the hat of the rotor. otherwise it will not seat properly.

      1. Yes, no issues;
      2. Yes, brake cables are available for this swap as well.
