Personally... I feel sick for the guy. I am glad they seem to have caught the culprits.
Which one of you would laugh at $3,000 worth of damage on YOUR car! ! !

A prank is one thing (like putting a car in a gym!) but damage is another thing all together!

Personally I am a car guy. I admire the engineers who can make a car that can hit 80 mpg! I would take one as a commuter in a second.

      Electric cars....

I remember watching 6 guys turn one of the first electric cars sideways between the cars it was parked so it couldn't get out until one of the other cars moved but I never would have let them damage it while I stood there wanting to see the owners face if they got there before the other cars moved. The car was 6 inches longer than it was wide.

Damaging someones car like that is just plain wrong and will bring you bad luck in the long run.

Well here in Norway I have yet to see any girl drive a Mini Cooper. Most are trendy men who have them and it was voted as gay car of the year(lol).
Smart cars I think only the people that are really into enviromently freindly cars buy them here.

Well... Gas here is hitting 92¢ a litre! (in other provinces it has hit $1 a litre)
... from a place that is used to 60¢ a litre... the gas savings look pretty good.
Many guys in my office commute at least 120km a day (60 each way)

A smart car would use $2.98 worth of gas per trip
A (30 MPG) car would use $8.67 worth of gas per trip
My van (13 MPG) would use $19.97 worth of gas per trip

$5.69 savings per day in gas on the car. ($1479.40 per year)
$16.99 savings per day in gas on my van ($4417.66 per year)

and that is just commuting to work!

      2.67L/ 100km (88 MPG)
      7.84L/100km (30 MPG)
      18.09L/100km (13 MPG)

Further more... you can run Bio-Diesel in these.

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel for diesel engines that can be made locally from waste restaurant fryer grease or any kind of plant oil or animal fats. Biodiesel emissions are extremely clean, and biodiesel can be used in a diesel engine with no modifications. It can be used 100% or blended with petroleum diesel, and has greater lubricity for fuel systems without sulfur or other additives. Biodiesel can be purchased commercially, but it is also very easy to make this fuel at home with minimal equipment.
I know of a guy who is looking at "brewing" his own bio-diesel... for about 10¢ a litre.
making the smart car use about 32¢ worth of fuel per trip. (using $83.30 per year)

      Ahhh.... the math.

I just about fell out of my chair when I saw that, yeah the damage to his car sucks but it's still funny. It's kinda like when a guy gets hit in the balls with a football, no guy would want that to happen to him but it's still damn funny.
