That year nova has the same suspension as the first gen Camaro. For cheap i would do street stock style springs and spacers in the front. Something like this for springs http://www.speedwaymotors.com/AFCO-5...gs,23682.html#
and this for Shims http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Adjust...hims,3389.html shop around for better pricing. As for spring rates I am sure someone will chime in with a good starting point. I am not sure about the leaf spring rear.

I know this is a thread about what you can do now, but since you said you were new to Novas, I though you might like to see some of your options for later.
The Hotchkis TVS is an all inclusive kit that we designed and tested as a system. No need to mix and match components. The TVS system includes Sport Coils, Sport Sway Bars, Heavy Duty Tie Rod Sleeves ,and Sport Leaf Springs.
You can also make improvements one sway bar at a time. Each new component will make a big difference in stance and handling.
