Pontiac TA 10 bolt rear- same as Chev??

Just pulled a posi unit out of a 1977 TA. Is this carrier the same as a Chevy or it there a difference?

this is just as I recall, been a couple years for me but I'm pretty sure internally they're the same--but the u-joints and other small details may be different.

The rear is the same refered to as the "corporate" 10 bolt after they stopped making the 8.2 rears. The 77 has an 8.5. You may need a different U-joint depending what you're swapping it into. If it's a 2nd gen camaro with the same trans just grab the driveshaft assembly and everything should bolt right in.

If the posi is all that you removed then you need to know if it is the right one for the gear ratio that you will be using. Many TAs had 2.56 and 2.41 gears, which use a 2 series posi. This will not work if you have 2.73 to 5.13 gears. You need a 3 series for those gears.
