Started working on my trunk panels

It's still a work in progress, but it's coming along.

I'd like something better looking to cover the fuel filler area, but couldn't get anything to look good with cardboard templates. What do the pros use for that type of section?

Considering this is a pretty inexpensive project, I'm pretty happy with how it's coming out. Bought 3/4" MDF and the carpet at Lowes.

The rear panels took the longest to make so far.
The panel is two pieces of MDF with a back brace on each end. I don't have the tools to make the angle cuts, I made a back brace with a flat and angled surface..then the MDF is mounted so it looks like this

I used some Great Stuff to fill in the gap between the pieces so the carpet would look smooth.

The pieces near the hinges weren't hard...just took time to make the templates and use the sander to get them to fit snug.

I haven't done the side or rear panels yet. I am thinking about maybe just carpeting the side quarters to leave more room for storage.

I haven't glued the trunk carpet down...I may want to buy better stuff before I make it permanent.

      Looks nice!

I have been looking to do something similar to my trunk.

Have you considered using a piece of PVC pipe to go over the fill tube? You could cover it with the same carpet and have the nice contour.
