I fear we already have. I am on many forums and there is almost no rememberance this year. I myself which was very close to NYC and have been very moved and affected by those events did not realize 9/11 was coming up till late last night when I looked at the date on my computer. I had planned on going to the place where I first heard just minutes(almost immediately as I was in the NYC area) and then heading to the Field in PA where flight 93 came down. Sadly my car is down so that didn't happen. BTW if you ever get to go to the memorial in Pa it will be the most surreal thing you have ever done.

I am a New Yorker, an American, and a grateful citizen to our Police and Firefighters. Never forget the bravery and courage displayed on that terrible day and honor the memory of the lives lost - Firemen, Police, Military, MTA, Port Authority, EMT and civilian alike.

My license plate on my daily driver is "NF CMXI" = "Never Forget 9/11" - New York does not allow any 9/11 references on plates but never figured on Roman Numerals.

      Proud to be an American.

I will never forget that date either. I have several friends at the Pentagon, 1 father of 3 beautiful little girls did not make it home that day.

Also, my wife works at USAA and the spouses of enlisted were calling in when the Pentagon got hit.
Talk about being the first life-line for the customer, it was a very emotional week, some just called in hoping to hear any news update, as it was hard to piece together in those first few hours.
Some spouses could not watch the news on TV, they were panicked so badly, they needed to hear a voice.
Needless to say, it was a tearfull week or two at the office for my wife. I think it took a good while for people to get out of the shock of what happened.

I lost several friends, and many others we know did as well. My family lives in NJ/NY, and there are many relatives affected more by it. We lost a lot of good people, and entire familes have had to overcome a traumatic experience that nobody was prepared for.
My heart goes out for all of those that have had to come to terms with the loss of a loved one.
      God Bless.

And thank you to all our enlisted men and women; fire, police, and rescue services serving our communities and country, to protect and ensure our way of life.

Sadly, many people don't remember. Many people are so detatched from reality or at least numb to it anymore that these sort of things were forgotten 6 years ago.

RIP to all whose lives were lost, either as innocent victims, or those heroes who gave their lives trying to save others. I know I will never forget!!

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

I was working Airside at Logan Airport when the planes took off. We heard of the first plane and we were already warned we would be leaving. When the second plane hit we dropped our tools and were sent home. We were putting utilities across some runways . We went home and I watched it on TV and couldn't believe it was happening. I got a call we had to go back and close up the runway. We were searched and the trucks pulled apart and searched too .
It was the most sobering experence I ever had . When we left there were 2-300 planes waaiting for take off. That afternoon the only plane allowed to land were escorted by two F 15s that stayed over the airport and Boston all day. The planes were carying family and company personal. We were guarded by snipers from the Ma state police . It was erie not a sound besides our work. It was hard to concentrate to say the least.
I January 2002 I went on a cruise . There were NY Fiemen and their families on it, who worked at the Tradecenter. As hard as they tried they were still messed up fom it . One minute smiling and having a good time the next lost somewhere in thought. I was heart breaking to see. I'm pretty reserved but there was one guy who got me to sing Jimmy Buffet songs at the piano bar with him.
      I will never forget..........

      NEVER FORGET!

I know that I never will. I lost far too much on that day...

Rest In Peace Lt. Kevin Dowdell Rescue 4

And all those who gave their lives on 9/11/01

I'll tell you what--seeing all of the movies and albums and what not that have been advertised these past weeks as opening / coming out / etc. on 9/11 has made me sick. The words "movie opens September 11th" or "new album drops September 11th" should never be spoken. This country knows no respect.

This should be a day of mourning and remembrance, not a day of commerce. Release those damn things a day earlier or a day later, I don't care that 9/11 falls on a Friday this year. No b-grade hollywood movie or ****ty popular music album should be released on this day.

Eight years and my how we've already forgotten what happened...

Out of respect for this day, I won't even begin to get into our government turning its back on the thousands and thousands of rescue workers who are experiencing respiratory diseases / disorders of all kinds due to insufficient protection / information from those in the know.

All I know is that I'll never forget the feeling I had when I received the phone call from my Father at around 9PM on 9/11. (He, and several thousand other fireman (FDNY) had been assigned to wait at Shea Stadium while the top brass (the remaining top brass) tried to formulate a plan. They were quite fearful of more attacks that day and did not want to have the entire department at ground zero, so they relocated half of the department to Shea as a precautionary measure. He did not make it down to ground zero until Thursday I believe.).

My father said that his company (Engine 306) was all accounted for, as they are located in Queens and as they were on their way into the city with the Engine and a commendeared city bus stocked with supplies, they were diverted to Shea stadium as I mentioned. In addition to his company, most of his other friends and relatives had been accounted for or heard from since the buildings fell. But, no one had heard from Kevin Dowdell, Lieutenant of Rescue 4, Father of two boys, Husband and his best friend (my great friend too). I will never forget the way I felt when I heard him say no one had heard from Kevin. I was beset with emotions of helplessness, sadness, rage, frustration and anger all at once. But mostly sorrow and melancholy. My heart felt as though it had literally fallen from my chest to the floor. I was catatonic and in disbelief of the events that had unfolded before me that day. I will never forget that feeling.

We never did hear from Kevin. Rest In Peace, my friend. You are greatly missed.

Thank you very much, Wayne. I appreciate it.

P.S. Kevin's legacy lives on through his sons. His oldest son, Patrick, graduated an officer from West Point a few years ago and has safely served three tours in Iraq. Two of which I believe he volunteered for.

His younger son, James, is currently carrying on his legacy as a Fireman with the FDNY.

I for one will never forget. My birthday is 9-11 Today I turn 30. I have taken the day off work out of respect for the fallen. I had several friends in the military and 2 did not make it home. I make it a point to visit them every year on this day. They enlisted right after 9-11-01 Needless to say I am proud for what they did and continue to help out the families in any way I can. It is the least I can do.

Tell both of those young men that they have choosen the best way to honor the memory of their fallen father. God speed and many safe days for both of those young men, their father is looking over them with a pride that knows no bounds.

I would like only add one thing to the day of rememberance. The Firefighters that gave all that day were not the only safety workers that ran in when others ran out. Most seem to only mention the FDNY, there was Police and EMTs that were there too. I thank God everyday for all those that choose to make a comitimemt to protect the rest of us. NEVER FORGET

      Will do, and thank you.

Absolutely! FDNY, NYPD, EMT, Port Authority Police, and Civilians were all lost that day. Although the Fire Department suffered the greatest loss at 343 men, the NYPD lost 70+, and the EMTs and Port Authority all suffered great losses as well, in addition to the roughly 3000 civilian casualties.

All those who were lost on this day deserve to be remembered as Heroes and Patroits!

      NEVER FORGET!

I'll always remember where I was as will most who were old enough to know what was going on at the time.

Words escape me as I struggle for the *right* thing to say.

My heart and thoughts go out to the heroes who were there that terrible day as well as the men fighting for our freedom and safety this very day. THANK YOU!

This day needs to be a national holiday so 9/11 won't be forgotten.

To do our little part of not letting this day be forgotten, maybe this could be a sticky.

I didn't know anybody personally that was killed in the initial attacks but I remember exactly where I was when I heard the first reports of the Tower being struck, for some reason my first thoughts were, terrorist attack and Bin Ladin although the news was reporting that it was a small aircraft, then the second plane hit and I knew for sure that it was terrorism. I was by myself at the time and couldn't help but cry. The misery that was caused by those retarded islamic terrorist can never be forgiven or forgotten. We can never repay the sacrifice and heroism of the civilians and emergency workers that died and our military that has fought to keep us safe from these retarded creeps, Now for the contriversial part, who would have thought that eight years later people would have forgotten this moment of tragedy and elect a president that has strong ties to the muslim faith ?. I'll bet that in 2001 you would have laughed at that possibility.

I love seeing those who remember.

I was a first responder to the Pentagon as an EST member from Bolling A.F.B.
I will never forget!!! I really get scared our Nation doesn't keep it's guard up but I won't get into any of that.
