What wheel studs are you using with C5 brake conversions.

I was wondering what wheel studs you guys recomm when running C5 brakes and aftermarket wheels (Rushforths). This is going on a 72 Chevelle with front drum hubs turned down and Disc also in rear. Hopefully I have given you guy's enough info to help me out here. Thanks Brandon

I know for the camaro C5 swap, they use raybestos: # 5000B

It may be different for a chevelle.

I had Tobin send me 1/2" screw in ARP studs with his Kore3 hubs. If you are having your hubs turned down to accept the C5 rotor, just drill the stud holes out to accept either the M12 press in studs from ARP or the 1/2" screw in studs from ARP. Factory C5s used M12 studs

ARP 1/2" dia studs @ all four corners.

On a C4 conversion I used 1/2"-20 x 1-3/4 fully threaded Allen bolts and drilled/tapped the hubs accordingly.

That would depend on what type of lug nut you intend to use. If you're running open nuts, length becomes much less critical since you can err on the side of caution and just run them extra long. Many sanctioning bodies require that the stud extend through the nut by at least 2-threads in order to pass safety/tech inspections.

The OE drum hub flange is ~.40" thick, C5/C6 front rotor hat is ~.30" thick for a total of .70" plus your wheel/lug nut combination. I usually allow ~.50" for the billet/forged wheel center plus a minimum of 8-turns engagement for the lug nut (~.50").

That means that a 1.70" under head length, give or take, would be what I would consider the bare minimum given your application. Obviously, any variation in one of the above mentioned dimensions should be taken into consideration. Since most acorn lug nuts have 1.38" or more internal clearance for studs, you should be able to easily run a stud as long as 2.50" without interference between the stud and inside of the nut. A longer tuner type nut could have room for an even longer wheel stud.

I will use Dorman studs from a C6 vette (12mm). I drilled and reamed my stock A-body hubs for the correct fit. I made sure that I have at least ~8 turns of thread engagement as already stated.

I went this route since every auto parts store will have this stud in stock if needed.

I used 7/16-20 Moroso studs as they fit my stock hubs and nuts. But they are 2 7/8" long which look bad.

Also the C5 hubs are take 12mm studs, so I'll probably upgrade to ARP 100-7708 which are 2.5" long and 12mmx1.5 threaded I think
