      1970 Monte Carlo

I started a 70 Monte Carlo project a couple months ago. It is a 70 Monte with the stock 350 in it currently. I am in the process of getting the rear 1/4's put on and then the body work will start. I originally was going to go charcoal with a black vinyl but it seams like every show I go to it is the same thing with these, they all have vinyls with 7in rally wheels. So i have cut that idea and i am going with a 2 tone scheme that will be either black/silver, black/pewter, or black/charcoal. I ordered some Black Chrome 20X10 and 18X8 Coy c-5's. They should arrive in 2 weeks. I plan to lower car to fit the wheels. I am going to get all the body work roughed in and 2 tone primer it until I decide what drive train to put in it. I have a lot of small block parts but not sure if I should go with a LS1 swap. I restore cars as a hobby and I have a hard time holding onto them for very long so I dont want to tie a fortune up in a motor swap just yet. I really wanted a 70 Chevelle but I have a Monte budget. I like it cause it will be different. There is a green and silver here on the site that has the same paint scheme that I was planning.

That would be yours that I was talking about. I plan to have the 1/4's finished up this weekend and then I can get to the body work. I hope to have the car primered by the time my wheels come in. I will post pics soon..

I got the 1/4s on and the wheels came in but I am way behind schedule. I have been slammed with insurance job which obviously take priority over any project cars. Gotta love deer season..I got it first primed and its on hold til the end of december cause I will be booked up in the garage. Here are a couple pics, next pics will be in paint hopefully...

Thanks for the comps guys. Hopefully I get to roll the black chromes while they are still fresh and everyone doesnt have them. I am planning as of now of doing a flat black top with a charcoal on the sides. Something to make the wheels pop.

Gringo, what suspension you have on yours, I am looking for a similar stance.

Frank, your Monte Carlo SS build is the reason I am on this site because I was watching on Montecarloss.com. I have had numerous SS montes and was doing a Grand National when you guys were building it.

Preciate the comments guys and I will be posting pics after the first of the yr hopefully with some progress.

I also have another project that I picked up a few weeks ago. It is a 73 Camaro RS Z-28 split bumper that is missing the drivetrain and it has been mini tubbed with 4 link, coil overs and a narrowed 9in. It is originally a 4 spd car as well. It needs the rear floor section cause the guy I got it from was gonna race it. Car has absolutely no rust whatsoever and it will be in line after the Monte for a next spring project. It has been in his garge for the past 15yrs and I am restoring a 55 Chevy truck for trade on the car. Progress pics next spring...

Well, the car may have to go. I found something else that sparked my interest and I am gonna take a big hit on it but I am just out of room.
