      Making trunk panels

I'm starting to make some templates for some trunk panels. For most of them, I'll use some MDF.

For the panels that cover the tail-lights, I've made the rear template out of cardboard. I have the cardboard cut on one side so it bends easily. I've got a few odd curves and think it will be a PITA to try to cut the MDF at the right angles to make it fit well.

If I put the cardboard templates in the trunk, can I brush some resin on the cardboard bends and let it dry. Then when I pull the panel out, will it wind up holding it's shape? I would like to then cover the rest of the panel with some fiberglass sheets and then cover it.

Does this sound like a plan that will work?

you need some sort of reinforcement. resin is polyester based and poly is needed to bind it. it will just basically sit on top of the cardboard and break.

I would make a frame out of mdf then stretch poly fleece over it then put the resin on that and back it with some fiberglass mat
