      alternator only charging 9.5 volts

      so i have a cammed 95 trans am LT1 with 6 speed in a 69.
My car kept having the battery drain so i checked my alternator adn it was pushing 9.5 Volts. So i replaced it since i have a lifetime replacement in it. The new one is also only putting out 9.5Volts.
The battery is a top of the line diehard gel battery that was recently replaced. So im not sure why i cant get the alternator to charge back the proper voltage. Im tired of dead batteries.

      any ideas. thanks

You should take a look at the battery cables. Grab a volt meter and do voltage drops on the cables while cranking the vehicle. Before doing that disable the ignition or fuel so the vehicle does not start.
      Check: (while cranking the vehicle)
      battery + to starter
      Battery + to altenator
      Battery - to body
      Battery - to engine
      Altenator case to ground

If you have had the battery tested and the test shows good, well its probally good. Have you had the new altnator tested? It could be bad, but since its doing the same thing the other one is, probally not. Check those wires and post back up.
