      Wheel Help

I have been running Centerline Telstars on my 69 and now have the needed room to goto an 11" wide wheel with a narrowed rearend of 1" on each side. I call centerline and find out that the vendor they were getting 11" rings from went bankrupt and they will only do 9.5" wide wheels. They have no plans to find a new vendor.

Not wanting to give up my Telstars the only idea i can come up with is to order a 9.5" wheel with 4" backspacing and send it to weld craft wheels to add 1.5" to the back.

Will this work and does anyone have experience with how well a welded wheel holds up?

      Thanks,
      Deejay

Welded wheels hold up awesome. I don't know where or how this misconception started that welded wheels are some how weaker than bolt together wheels, but I'd rather have a welded up subframe, welded subframe connectors, and welded up wheels than any bolt on part if at all possible.

Jon is right that welded 2 piece wheels are great.
But widening the hoops on your wheels by welding them together is not the best way to go. Several companies have done stress test recently and unless the weld is under the center piece of the wheel they will not pass. There has been a supply problem since one of the vendors closed down but now there are 2 new companies that have stepped up and have hoops in stock again. Have someone do it right for you.

Do you happen to know the name of the vendors currently making 11" rings? Might be a chance I could gets a couple of rings sent to centerline.
