Question about QA1 Coilover Kit For 67 Camaro

I have a question... And this may be an easy question, however I don't know the answer to it...

I have my 67 Camaro ride height in the front pretty low right now and I like how it looks. I need a stiffer spring and a better shock in the front and I have been looking at "QA1 Precision Products GMP1450-1" which is a coilover kit. I have QA1's in the rear and I like them.

My question is... With the coilover kit can I adjust the front ride height to get the car where I want it to sit? I am thinking the 450 pound springs will be good for a big block car - Am I correct?

I put them on my 67 camaro for the same reason. You can adjust for ride height and get it pretty low, but what I have noticed is that the lower you go, the less clearance you have between the lower bump stop and the frame. This bothers me because i don't want to remove the bump stop(i did cut it some), but I have hardly any travel in the front suspension. It bottoms out on the bump to much. I have been looking into maybe changing out the stock up and low a-arms in hopes of gaining more travel and still maintaining the lower stance. I also read about taller ball joints. I just don't know what the right combination of parts to achieve what I think we are after. I am not trying to steal your thread, just hoping some one else can give us a good combination to achieve what we are both after.

you can adjust the ride height but I would think with a big block you may want to look at the 550# springs.

My understanding is you can only get roughly 1.5 inch drop with these coilover conversions. If you try to get more you will not have enough shock travel left.

Check out the SPC lower control arms from Mark at SC&C. They will allow more drop than the stock control arms.

cw67 - Yes, you are after the same thing I am chasing... Right now I have stock UCA/LCAs, with springs and some low budget Monroe shocks. The front of my car is too loose and is too "floaty" when hitting bumps/dips. The tires scrub into the fenders when this happens and it bothers me.

The front of my car is low and I like how it looks. I just need to severely stiffen it up. I am not sure what # my springs are because I had a local shop put them on. I was thinking of maybe just trying some QA1 shocks up front using the same springs I have now and seeing if I can click down the shocks to stiffen the front up.

I too have very little clearance between the bump stops. I had some older bump stops in there and they got beat to crap. I just replaced them with new ones so we will see how they hold up - i am sure they will get beat up as well.

I don't really want to spend the money on new control arms, shocks, springs right now. I just want to get things stiff up front with maybe some shocks and/or springs. I know if I go messing with springs I am going to change the ride height. It all seems like a trial and error game when changing springs out to achieve desired ride height... :|

I was pleased with my QA1 coil over shock and spring combo (small block). It did the trick for a while. I just want to go further now with new up and LCA to gain a little more breathing room for the shocks to work better. I would say the part # you gave for the big block should be better than what you describe you have now. You will probably still be crushing the bump stops. I have seen camaros at car shows with no bump stops but I would be scared of that. There are other options like buying 2" drop springs from hotchkis. I just liked the idea of adjustability without to much cost. If you do some more searching in here I know there are other options for lowering the front end. I don't think they are as easy to adjust though.

From my understanding if you use the SPC arms and bolt the c/o on with out any ride height shims you will lower the ride height .5". When the qa1 c/o is used with stock lca's they need to be reinforced around the crossbar mounting area. I think most would say you would be better suited with a lowering spring and a good shock.
