      Coilover rate suggestions

Just finished installed Varishocks bolt in coilover kit. Came with their 650lb springs. Maxed out on the adjusters, I am slammed, bottomed out. Too low. It has just enough that if I lift the car by hand it will hold it, until you push on the fender again.

Askin the pro's here or people that have an idea. I'm thinking of going with 1000lb springs... I can choose from 850-1300lb. Any thoughtss???

Heres a pic of how it sits.

      thanks gang!!

I would probably double check on the part number of the coilovers. I dont think it should sit that low with the correct part.

I think they offer lowering coilovers and that may be what you have.

      sweet car by the way....

Looks like you have the SPC lower arms. I was in the same situation 650s with a 1 inch spacer and still on the ground. I went and got Hyperco 8 inch 750lb springs from Speedway. No binding and plenty of adjustment. Make sure you set the shock in the middle of its spec travel.

I needed a 1/4 inch spacer in the lower control arm under the lower coil over mount to set mine perfect.

Note that this is with an all iron Pontiac. Think big block weight!

Good info here, this is helping me out in my situation...

I'm trying to figure out my suspension as well. I've got a bone stock 1972 Pontiac LeMans. Tryin to figure out spring rates & shock stuff now. So far thinking I'll go with 700lbs springs in the front & 225 in the rear. Not sure what shocks I'll use. Gonna use the Saitske Street-Comp Stage 2 plus for the front & a global west setup in the rear.

I want the car to stay flat in the corners, but not jar my kidneys or fillings outta my head if I happen to go over some bumps in the road or a parking deck.

      Suggestions are VERY welcome!!

Everyone has their own definition of stiff and I think your rears will be a little stiff, by my definition. The 175s in the back of my car is about my limit. Note that I have just a back seat and nothing in the trunk.
I read from someone here that you 'feel' the rear springs more than the front. IF you want to change the rears, it is much easier than the fronts. Rear springs run about $100 and some people here keep several sets for different applications.
