The '74 weighs 3600 lbs. The brakes are 4 piston, 12.19 dia. rotors, wheels are 17x9" and17x9.5" LT-III's. Don't know what they weigh. I got ALL my info on hydroboosts from this and one other website. Most all of it good. From what I've read there are a lot of people out there running GM truck hydroboost units and having good results. There are a lot of us who are do it your selfers and enjoy fabricating and installing our own mods. This was easily one of the simplest and most successful mods i have ever made. I have no more than $150 in the whole thing. Considerably cheaper than what they sell for as complete kit. I also understand that there are people that have neither the time or desire to do this themselves and it is far more convenient to buy. My point was just that the Astro unit should work fine. Also from what I have read the Mustang units do not put out as much pressure as the GM units. Whether or not that matters I don't know. I can tell you that with my car I would'nt change a thing.

06-02-2009 #22Mustang unit gains over what can be accomplished with a vacuum booster or a really well setup Manual are questionable, Gm units deliver, however there is a very fine line to walk when assembling a DIY kit... A good base line is a 1- 1/8 Master according to the right people.
