      Chevy R07 Parts

I need a set of Chevy R07 main caps. They don't have to be new, they don't have to be usable, they can even be out of a motor that went boom. I'm having Dart make me a alum copy of a R07 block, and I need a set of main caps to measure so a set can be machined for my block. We borrowed a R07 block from MBE to put on the CNC measuring machine, but apparently there were no main caps. I didn't know this at the time, and I guess nobody else caught it either. Matt has since sold that block. My block is finished, it just needs a set of main caps. I need to get this thing finished. I've already contacted Hendricks and Childress, they'll help me out when they have something they can do without for a while. GM won't let just a set of caps go.

So the question is. Can somebody point me in the direction of a person/shop/engine builder that might be messing around with R07 engines?

I wish- thats a mean motor. I'm surprised that Dart or a good machine shop can't take care of some caps. Maybe a hardcore race forum , like sprint cars, etc. Good luck.

You have the block dimensions, crank mains diameter, witch of the mains, bolt hole locations, they can't machine a set from that. I mean Dart is an engine building company, they don't have the engineering resources to design them from those dimensions? I find that hard to believe.

Ya, I'm thinking the same thing. I thought a set of main bearings should give them what they needed. The thrust on the R07 in on the center main. And, I'm not sure how the rear main is done. I never saw the R07 block we borrowed from MBE. By how much different this block is from a "normal" SBC, I thought the main cap would have been the easy part.

I'll look for some sprint car forums. Hadn't thought of that. See that's why I asked you guys. ****, that should have been the first thing I did. Sometimes I'm an idiot.

      Thanks
