Santa Maria has grown so much in the past few years. There's McClintock's (steak house) and most of the restaurants offer the Santa Maria style Tri-Tip dinners.

About a half-hour south is Santa Ynez valley (Solvang, Buellton, etc.) and fun for a few hours. There's an AJ Spurs (similar to McClintock's) there and Pea Soup Andersen's too.

      Just some thoughts,

I think Jocko's steakhouse might be in Santa Maria... Don't remember but it is as good or better (depending on who you speak too) then Aj Spurs... Both places and mclintocks are good.

Can also go north to San Luis Obispo, Pismo beach, or morro bay.

AJ Spurs is good!! My friends and I go to the one in Pismo Beach every summer after a weekend of dune riding.

Don't leave w/o that Santa Maria style Tri-tip!

Neat little town. We lived there for a bit when I was very young. My Dad was a DJ at a local radio station (KSMA) while going to college.
