      Centerline Wheels

The stainless steel center caps/cover click on the rim when they get hot. I called Centerline and they suggested that I swap them around and after tightened them, back the screw off 1/4 turn. I was going nuts trying to chase this noise problem down. Any one else have this problem and what did you do to stop this.

I had a set of the 5 star Centerlines with the big bolt on(4 bolts)caps back in the early '90s that did that. I took gasket material and made some gaskets to go between the wheel and center cap and that did the trick.

These have a large cover with two screws that cover the whole center part. I checked and the cover rides on a very small part of the wheel. Not enough to place a gasket. I think the new Centerlines comes machined for an o ring for the cover to ride on. They worked fine for years, do not know why they started to make noise now.

Problem fixed, swapped, re-tightened and the noise went away. Strange
