first gen lower control arm install...??

Does it matter which way you put the bolts facing on the lower CA's when you install??

I know sometimes there can be header clearance issues in an A-body and the bolt for the rear one.

Also, I've read that removal (down the road) can be a pain and that you've got to really hammer on the threaded end of the bolt to get it out. If that is the case, it seems like you'd want the threaded end of each bolt facing outward (front bolt w/ hex head facing rear and back bolt with hex head facing forward).

well on my Nova the fronts ones had the nut facing out like you mentioned and the rears slid in front the front with the nut on the back side... so as you look over the top the nut is in the back.

3 out of 4 of mine came out and they haven't been out ever since 1969 when my Nova was assembled. The last i had to cut off with the sawzall....so use plenty of antiseize upon reassembly.
