      Maxton Mile

Guys, Took the Elky to Maxton this weekend for the Hot Rod Challange. Man that's fun. Due to a lack of rollbar I was only teched for 135. Made four passes in the 130's. I finally ran the car matted in my last pass and did a 158. Not too smart. ECTA frowns on people ignoring the rules. Mr. Turk made sure I understood that I won't be doing that again. Actually he was very understanding. Just told me that I would have to have the required safety equipment before I would be allowed back on course. Anyway, that pass was 6400 in 5th gear. I'll have to add the rollbar to find out what happens in 6th. I highly recommend a trip to Maxton. Really great people and some amazingly fast cars.

It did feel quite fast. It's been awhile since I have run those speeds. Now I remember why I used to race.

Maybe you will have it ready for the Oct. run.

Steve, You do want to do this. A blast down a 1/4 is a thrill. A 1 mile run is four times as thrilling.
They have May, June and Oct dates.Sept. is motorcycles only.
Let me know when you are going so I can be sure to be there.
What is more amazing is I looked up my class in the record book and I am only 5 mph below the class record at 158. You know I have gotta get my car legal now. www.ecta-lsr.com.

All of you need to try to make it to Maxton or Texas. The dates for the rest of 09 are May 16-17, June 27-28, Sept 19-20(motorcycles only) and Oct 24-25. I'm hooked. I carried my buddy Bobby Jones with me. He made two passes in my Elky with a 138 his best. I can see the wheels turning already. His 72 Camaro build just got a little adjustment in style. Full cage, fuel cell and more HP. Gotta love it.
