Panel Replacement Plan and more Questions

I started my frame off restoration of my 1970 Chevelle. I've basically disassembled everything except the doors. I know I need to replace the Drivers quarter due to a PO accident then Bondo job.

      Here is my plan:

      1. Buy and install new Body Bushings from NPD

      2. Maybe new or rebuilt door hinges? Not sure how to tell if I need to. Driver's door closes OK but the other door does not it was rubbing the front fender some maybe b/c its out of alignment or b/c of hinges?

      3. Align doors with quarters.

      4. Buy body shim kit from NPD and put the front clip back on minus wheel housing (I need to buy one maybe can do alignment without the housing?) and align fenders to doors.

      5. Put hood on align hood to fenders (Note before I removed the hood the back was not level with the fenders. Do I need new hinges here as well?)

      6. Put deck lid back on and align.

      7. Drill 1/8" holes to make sure I can get it back to alignment after paint.

Am I missing anything? Is the order right?

I remember reading somewhere that you start at the fenders and work back but since its already all off I figured I could work from the doors. The only other thing I wondered about is do I need to do the fitment with the weather stripping in? I hope not b/c its put away for now.

Also in determining what needed replaced or repaired I stripped 80% of the car with 3M strip disc and put some metal prep/rust stopper stuff on the metal to keep it from rusting but that didn't work at all, total crap unless I'm applying it wrong. Now I have some surface rust starting how should I tackle that my compressor is not very big can I get away with rattle can primer while I do the body work?

      Thanks for the help!

Start with the doors to the quarters and rockers. Since these 2 parts are welded in place and not adjustable until you start to replace them. door hinges can be checked by opening the door about a foot and lifting up on the rear of the door any play and you need at a minimum bushings and pins. If the hole is reamed out replace the hinge itself. You can check the hood hinges in pretty much the same fashion by looking for slop.
