      North Carolina Alignment / Diamondback Classics

      I wasn't sure as to where this should go, so if it is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move it.

      We will soon be replacing the tires on my father's 1956 BelAir, and will need to have it aligned.

      We are looking for a competent shop capable of giving a custom vehicle the care necessary, or a shop that will allow our participation in the process thus insuring the car's protection. It has a front subframe from a '79 Firebird, and we would like to have the car aligned to our specifications.

      We will be replacing the tires with Michelin X series, modified with whitewalls by Diamondback Classics.

      Thus, given the above, does anyone know of a shop they would recommend?



      Has anyone have an experience that would make us question the use of tires from Diamondback Classics?

      I think you will like them. They are pretty well known alternitive to coker tires.

      Go visit the jalopy journal on the H.A.M.B, that is a old rodder site and am sure a search on that site will get some information. As for a shop in NC, where in NC are you looking at? I think DC Classic is in conway SC.

      Sorry about that, it would have been smart to let everyone know where my father is located!

      They are in Youngsville, NC. We are thinking of driving down to Diamondback Classics to pick up the tires rather than have them shipped.

      We looked at Coker, but they don't have the 1-1/4 whitewall style. American Classics (or some such) makes a tire that would work (that's what's on the car now), but they have always had balance problems, and get terrible wet traction to boot, thus the switch to Diamondbacks.

      I have the diamondbacks on the wagon and they are good tires. I have had a problem with the rears kind of bubbling around the rim tho. What it looks like is the whitewall is trying to come out from under the rim lip. Almost like the white was either too big or too small. I called them and they said that they would get back with me, but never did. But they told me that they did have another pair that did it. Sounded like they "set them up" for an aluminum wheel lip but I got steels. The rears
      Are 17's Btw.
      Don't know about the alignment tho.
