Engine Stands.... What are you using?

Looking for a new engine stand for my newly acquired LQ9. All I can find locally is chinese made junk. Considering going w/ this one from Jegs? Never used a rotating geared stand tho? Any recommendations or Opinions?

Hate to admit it but I've got a Harbor Freight engine stand that is actually pretty cool. It breaks down and is very sturdy. Has four feet w/rollers. Paid $30 for it ...

Geared to turn over a fully built motor would be kind of cool, however I would rather spend $100 buying a couple stands and keep the extra $100. Those $35 chinese stands work fine. The more expensive ones are usually too heavy duty and big and are hard to move and get in the way. Unless you are working on big diesels I would not spend the cash on the $300+ pro models.

Harbor Freight - 2,000 lb $119. But it goes on sale throughout the year for $69 - $89. I dug around before, and it is close to impossible to find one that is NOT made in China.

The harbor freight one is junk...I bought the one rated for 2000lbs and my bbc twisted it like a pretzel!
I'm going to buy a good one and err on the side of safety!

      Engine stand

If you only want to buy 1 engine stand in your lifetime buy an AXE, U.S. made (Kansas) and will hold any Big Block with no problems

I picked up a heavy duty engine stand from NAPA. It is geared to rotate and made in the US. I've had it for about 2 years and had several different engines on it. It works great.

if you plan on leaving your engine on a typical engine stand for any length of time you should add a support that supports the front of the motor, blocks are not designed to support the weight of a complete motor from just the back......yes we all have done it ....but it can unduly stress areas of the block. I have seen two cheap stands cut and welded together to make one or you can by a stand that supports the motor from both ends or..........not so important how you do it.
