      Please someone help me with Hydroboost problem!!!

      I just had the worst day ever! It's my birthday and I was supposed to be in out St Patricks day parade. Untill something happend to my brakes on the way there!!!

      I Installed a hydroboost unit with braided lines and a NEW Tuff stuff pump. Everything worked fine until I backed out of my driveway, put it in drive and the brakes were locked up. Now every time I turn the wheel the petal goes down and the brakes lock up. I have to wait like 10 seconds before I can move again. The pump makes a whining sound and its hard to turn the wheel just standing still. Pressing on the brakes standing still the petal jumps up and down.

      Could the pump have gone bad? Or is there something wrong with the hydroboost?

      I'm going to get a 6 an fitting and bypass the brakes first and see if the pump stops whining.
      (UPDATE) I bypassed the Hydroboost unit and the whining stopped. Looks like it may be the brake unit????

      Please help!

      whining means its using pressure, maybe a bad hydraboost unit or improperly routed hoses or wrong pump

      IIRC, if the return line has backpressure this will happen.

      If it's brand new the system needs awhile to get the bubbles out. Until it does strange things can happen. Check the fluid level as well.

      No it's not. Sorry to say. It was a unit that was rebuilt though. It was working fine for around a month and a half. If it is the unit can I have it rebuilt by them? It's the same one with the sight glass also.

      Found something else. I removed the outlet AN fitting on the Hydroboost and the little O-ring was broken. That same fitting was leaking 2 weeks ago. I tightened it up real good then. It wasn't leaking yesterday though???

      Hydratech does not rebuild boosters. What pulley system on the car, Ford or GM pump?

      Do you have the HP pulleys? There have been some issues with hydroboost and March pulley systems.

      Is that with the underdrive pulleys? What problems with the march pulley systems?

      I never heard of a problem with that kit. Yes it's the underdrive one. I'm wondering where he heard it from.

      I won't say it is a problem with every one of March kits, but there have been some fluid supply issues with some of the pumps they use. Hydroboost systems required 2.5-3.0 gpm to operate properly. Without proper flow or aeration of the fluid the pump will whine. Your other issue with your brake pedal sounds like a seal in the booster has failed. And both could be caused by a bad booster. I was not pointing the finger at your March kit, just trying to diagnose a problem based upon issues we have dealt with in the passed. I would first changed out the booster and as it is the only thing that could cause your brakes to do what they are doing. Then see if any other issues are left.

      I know that I am jumping in late to this thread but felt I could offer a little something.
      I do ot believe that there was a problem with the March pulleys. The problem is with the march billet PS pump. I ran into a similar problem after installing mine and found out that the Billet PS pump is incompatible with a Hydroboost. The problem stems from not having a vented system and not enough fluid capacity.
      Neither Hydratech or March could offer much in the way of assistance but I did fix it myself. Here is a thread showing my fix;
