      Fast ez-efi

      http://www.fuelairspark.com/WhatsNew...rottlebody.pdf

Any news on this system? Good and/or bad? I'm considering going EFI in the future, and this FAST system, along with the Holley Commander, or stepping up to a 'custom' Multi Port system... are all options.

This would be on my 400 HP 350 Olds, not too concerned with being able to control spark, but you never know...

I just read an ad for this setup this morning in car craft. Was wondering the same thing. Any idea on price?

      Can't find any pricing info...

Hopefully it will be competitively priced with other similar systems, like this one= http://www.retrotekspeed.com/product...-1-system.html

I'd trust FAST quality and customer service over Retrotek, and would be willing to pay 'slightly' more for a FAST product.

I like the idea for a self tuning system, as long as it also allows one to run in a manual tune mode. Best of both worlds imo.

I expect that an automatic tune mode would be desirable for a car that sees wide variations in altitude, temperature, and pressure.

When I get around to upgrading my fuel injection system, this is going to be on my "consider" list for sure.

You don't need auto tune to adjust for altitude/pressure and temp. Most systems do that already.

I have not heard of an auto tune system that tunes for start-up and accel conditions. I also haven't heard of one that auto tunes the ignition curve/table.

A Q and A session at the begining of software installation could set up a start up program. How many cylinders, firing order, Cubic inches, compression, cam specs, bla, bla, bla and the system could now what basics to put in. Start up programs can be pretty far off and still start. If the firing order and ignition type is correct, and everything else in the zip code, it will usually start.

I do not know what would stop a self adjustng ignition curve from being designed. If they added a knock sensor and moniter acceleration speed, the system could ease it to the ragged edge of knock and ease it just under and get it damn close.

Accel already has a Auto calc button you can push at any time on the fuel map that will correct the given cell at that instant. You can do this in mulitlple areas then you can smooth the map around those corrected cells. It only makes sense this feature could do the entire fuel map

Obiously to in super high performance applications, where every last teenie bit needs to be extracted, I can see where a tuner will be needed for quite some time. But iI have yet to see a tuner makes adjustments as many times per second as a wide band O2 can.

I think this technoligy will advance pretty quickly over the next couple years.

I have been anticipating this for a while. It only makes sense if a O2 sensor can make adjustments in mila seconds, that a self tuning system could be made.

Kind of puts tuners out of business though.

      Lets see how it does.

      Should have pricing soon

I don't think there has been a sophisticated enough "self-learning" system produced yet that will put EFI tuners out of business. Maybe in the future ...

I read that the EZ_EFI system will be around $1,800

Frank: I was referring to parameters like the After Start Fuel coef., After Start Decay, Starting Fuel Coef. etc... like in the Gen 7. All these are feed forward so the O2 sensor has no role to play. You have a similar situation with the accel enrichment parameters. They are basically trial and error or if the combo is known, a good tuner can use a set that is proven.

I agree with you on the ignition. I had an '86 GN that had this capability within a narrow band of timing. I would think that a program could be written that instructs the driver to reach a steady-state condition (i.e., 50mph), then checks for the condition and performs a timing ramp until a knock is sensed and finally retards timing 2-4 degrees from that for safety. My understanding is that most knock sensors are tuned for a specific engine configuration and can even be thrown off by a noisy valve train so that poses a problem to doing this. Still I haven't seen a system that does this.

The autocalc is handy, but it's only useful if you're operating at a steady condition. I think that to do a full map autocal, a program would need to walk someone through the table, check for a condition and then perform the autocalc.

I basically did all of this the brute force way with my Gen7.

I've also thought that if you could integrate a RacePak or G-Tech with the right software, you could perform autocal while doing 1/4 mile runs to reduce your time.

The cost is primarily in the carb look-a-like throttle body

I just got pricing this week on EZ EFI. Master kit Jobber net is $2137.40 and comes complete with everything you need from fuel system kit to hose kit for the throttle body. I was told they could start shipping later this week.

      Efi conversion

I purchased, and am installing the Retrotek Speed multiport EFI kit on my Pontiac 455. I did not use their manifold though. I decided to run the Edelbrock Torker II EFI instead. This system is self learning via wideband which is included in the kit, and can also be tuned with a laptop. It also controls spark. I have a total of $2300 invested. I did a lot of research and was impressed with the features Retrotek has. I did not want to get a system that can not be tuned.

What about this system from Retrotek. I am a newbie to alot of this stuff but this looks pretty simple ($1600) .. http://www.retrotekspeed.com/product...ii-system.html
Am I right that I need another module to control spark/ignition to use this in a LS2 w/ a carb style intake? What is recommended?

FYI for everyone - the FAST install instructions for EZ-EFI dated 03/30/09 states:

"The EZ-EFI™ system is intended for naturally aspirated engines only – no turbos or
      superchargers."

Towards the bottom of the instructions page it states that the supplied handheld unit can adjust the injectors up to 60 psi which will support up to 650hp. If that is the case I am all over this.

Woah, mentions 4 different flow rates in injectors as well. This system is looking pretty good. I wish I had seen this earlier. Only things I see that I wish was better was it look like it only has a single Wide band O2 sensor. I have their A/F sensor with dual O2 sensors already plumbed in. It be nice to just upgrade to this unit but still be able to keep the dual sensors.

[Edit] - Vallet mode by using the rev limiter is kind of cool too.
