      Interesting engine concept...

Hi all...well, as usual Smokey Yunik comes up with some wacky idea. Naturally the first thing that comes to mind is the usual argument that if it were that much of an improvement it would have been adopted by someone. Still...interesting argument for heating gasoline.

well the car has been (repetitively) proven to get better MPG and power than stock. plus sometimes good ideas just take forever to take. one of the euro cars just started making headlights that turn with the wheel, when did tucker come up with that one?

OK, slightly of topic: The 1967 French Citroën DS and 1970 Citroën SM were equipped with an elaborate dynamic headlamp positioning system that adjusted the headlamps' horizontal and vertical positioning in response to inputs from the vehicle's steering and suspension systems, though US regulations required this system to be removed from those models when sold in the USA.

Prior to that: Czech Tatra and 1920s Cadillacs were early implementer of such a technique, producing in the 1930s a vehicle with a central directional headlamp. The American 1948 Tucker Sedan was likewise equipped with a third central headlamp connected mechanically to the steering system.

      Both quotes from wikipedia.

Once again; sorry for the off-topic excursion.

yeah they only spent like 50k plus building hot vapor engines thats each and they never became truly perfected. Oh and ford did it what back in 20s or 30s, and one of the first with turning lights was an old caddy or olds back in 1900,1910s,1920s when they stil lhad oil lamps with reflectors. There havent been any trully automotive inovations in 60 or 70 yrs.

On the one side it makes sense that a vapor would burn better than tiny droplet, on the other hand it just reminds me of vapor lock. Yes, the vapor is not in the fuel lines or pump, but still.

Might be something to look into. Wonder how the injectors would cope, if at all.

I thought I was a genius when I thought of the same thing in school before I read about this. At any rate, it's success is in part driven by horrible carburetors, intakes, and combustion chambers that could not adequately prepare the charge. It doesn't have any place in modern engines, and in fact with direct injection a trend back towards heterogeneous mixtures is to be expected.
