And yes the world has indeed changed. With an Auto Czar looking over our shoulders and 17 billion dollars of of the tax payers money....I don't think Uncle Sam or the rest of the tax payers will be happy seeing us bring a car like that to market.

Hell we're going to have a hard enough time moving the V6 model. And we should worry about a niche car?

C'mon guys...take a look around. This country is hemmoraging money out of it's ass. 422,000 people are out of work in the state of Michigan alone. I don't know what the number is for the rest of the country and I'd be afraid to ask.

....and it's getting worse. My friend's 16 year old daughter has been looking for a job for 6 months now and she can't even get one at McDonalds because all those jobs are being swalled up by all the adults who are out of work.

I realize the whole arguement is "give the people what they want". But you only do that if you can get a big return on the investment. The fact it is...Z28 wouldn't do that for us right now.

So... is 2009/2010 the last year for the Corvette? CTS-V? the (non-truck) LS platform?

I'm not trying to be an arse Tony but I think that the most important thing for any future model offerings should be profitability - not perception. If one of the conditions of receiving taxpayer moneys (at this point in the form of a bridge load and not a hand out) is that GM has to build governmentally acceptable vehicles... well... the price is too high.

All that will be left will be stretch limo's, Cobalts, and pickups with rubber matts...

rrrr my thought are this are long and out of anger but in the short version is that gm has dropped the ball one to many times and lost the people .... to me this is the begining of the end for them (they should have had this car out 5 years ago when everyone else was introducing the new versions of their pony cars .... also make it affordable (this was the whole purpose of the pony car (to get the young buyers) but know all they want to do is sell over bloated cars .... that the average young person cant afford... this is why this type of car has tanked... i want a well equipped low price pony car if they had this combo they would sell ..... let me have a sit down with bob and i will tell him what people really want not what their warped marketing people think we want

The timing arguement is an old one, most (including I) would agree with you.

At $22K I think a lot of young people would be picking up a new V6 Camaro (especially with 300 hp). But this is in a stable economy. Most of those young people who would have been lining up for it are now buying Raman Noodles by the bulk.

The poor car is just in the wrong place at the wrong time. And it's too bad because it's a terrific driving machine. I know because I got to drive an SS back in December and lets just say...I needed a bag of ice in my lap for a few minutes before I could get out of there. A phenomenal driving machine. I would kill to own one.

I hope you young guns like it. Us old school guys want buy it. We want retro hands down. The New Dodge & ford pony blow this thing away as far as style. But what do I know I'm old school anyway... I like the old look.

I disagree with every word of that. I'll be 40 in a few months.

I want an old Camaro....and I have one, a '68. I'd like a new Camaro too. I dig the heck out of the new one and might just hafta buy me one.

The new Camaro does not suck. Quite the contrary. I would love to have one and would have an order placed already if I weren't a 26 year old college graduate who is flat on his a$$ unemployed. All this after having been a very hard worker and quite successful in my career to this point

The car rocks, but times are tough, and there are lots of people out there with stories just like me and that will hurt Camaro sales. Tony and GM know this.

Seems to me that anyone on this site should know that they can mod the LS3 in their $32k SS Camaro to make plenty of Z28-esque horsepower (and probably for less money in the end). We know how to get the braking and improve the handling through the work of aftermarket companies like Pedders. I'm not sure why guys on this site really need GM to offer a Z28, since we're the guys that should know how to make our own!!
