      new daily driver

attn moderators; I wasn't sure which forum this fit in, so move it if I was wrong. Thanks.

The lease was up on Jill's Jetta and carpooling kinda sucks, so I bought a car that most of my friends don't like. I think it's cool.
It's a 1987 Caprice Estate wagon. Yup, it's got woodgrain on the sides. I don't know if I can make it into a Pro-tourer, but I'm gonna try while keeping the $ amount as low as possible. I am still putting the engine in so I haven't driven it yet. I bet it handles like roller skates on ice.
Don't know much about it yet but here's what I do know.
It's pretty clean. (I only paid $200 for it.)
Don't know if the tranny works. ($100 for a 2004r)
Carb is rebuilt. ($100 for the Qjet)
It has 2 1/2" dual exhaust with an h-pipe. (was already on car)
The previous owner put 4.10's in it. (open rear diff.)
The 396 and headers from the Camaro pretty much dropped right in. (the Camaro is on the back burner right now)
      Everything electrical seems to work.
New tires and brakes. (from previous owner)
Steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps. (SWEET!)

So if I get to break in the engine next weekend and the tranny works, I'll have a car to drive. What would you guy's do to this car?
I know the tall tires will affect handling. What can I do to make up for that? Gimme some ideas.

I know this car really doesn't fit on this site but the station wagon forums are BORING!!! And you can't be to mean to me as I do have the Camaro.

      Thanks guys,
      Matt

Welcome to the forums. It's cool to see another B-Body Box wagon. Check out my BattleCruiser build thread in the update section. My Olds Custom Cruiser handles amazingly well in stock form. I hope to greatly improve apon it. Good luck with your build.

It's a cheap driver so that rocks. a 396 with 4.10's make it fun and the dog-dish caps are cool.

But dude, you're only about 2, maybe 3 baby steps away from this.

I knew someone would bring that up! It didn't take long for the pic to show itself either.
I wonder if my grandma would sit on top for a picture.
