      327 build help.

im going to be putting together a 327 soon and need some help. its got 10 or 10.5 to 1 compression, fuelie heads with 2.02 1.60 valves, and its bored .060 over. What cam should i do? its mostly street driven but will see road coarse and auto x once in a while. I want something that will make some nice power and have a rough idle but dont want it to be to radical.

      thanks

I would think that you will need a decent amount of overlap for the compression ratio you are running, so that should give you some chop at idle.
If you can get your heads on a flow bench to find out at what lift they are maxed out, that would give you a good guideline for picking your lift and rocker ratio.

Think I'd call a cam manufacturer or two, and be realistic about what you want, listen to what they reccomend.

10:1 old iron head motor may have octane problems- are you sure about compression ratio? May require a late intake valve closing to reduce dynamic compression ratio...

Something in the 23X/24X duration at .050, dont know if you want solid, Hyd, or roller. This will sound good but not be too radical.

I am working on a 327 build its only .030 over, I ave the smaller double hump heads. Local speed shop suggests some head work and running a crane 274h06 cam with some 1.6 magnum stel rockers with roller tips.

That cam is lopey for certain and often used in circle track.

I like the 274 to 276 cams from various cam outfits in 327's
That much iron headed compresion might cause problems with cams under the radical range
