Accel Thruster DFI - Narrow vs Wide O2

Considering updating my Gen VI to a Accel Thruster System - either 77010 or 77010W - looking to better understand the difference between narrow (77010) vs wide band (77010W) O2. Mainly considering the 77010 - based on programmers recommendation.
      Any input would be appreciated.

A WB is the only way to go if you want to tune it yourself or run non-stoich AF ratios.

We sell and install Accel and FAST. Only Wide band, almost no reason to go FI if your not going to take davantage of the WB capabilities.

The Thruster is a great package, and a bargain. We run one of the first Thrusters on Project EmptyNest

Spoke to Jobe at Turbo People yesterday - said that I can go without the wideband as part of the Thruster - as he has a handheld. Curious does the wideband only for the programming aspect - or does it play a roll while operating the vechile?

It plays a HUGE roll in the operating of the engine. With a wide band, the O2 can correct for stmosphere changes and enrich and lean up to 20%. Ever going to tavel ourt of town? Ever going in the mountains? Every going to drive on a rainy day?

Trying to save a few bucks here make no sense at all. might as well by a ggod carb for it. That is about what you will have.

WB O2's are a wonderful tuning aid and I absolutely would recommend getting one - if you do plan on doing any of your own tuning, get one, period.

That said, you're not going to notice any difference in engine operation between a WBO2 and a narrow band with a good tune. Like someone else mentioned, having the WB enables the PCM to correct to non-stoichiometric ratios in your AFR table; to me, it's not an essential feature, and in some cases I would go as far as saying it's a bad idea (I don't even run an O2 sensor, narrow or wideband, unless I'm doing some work on the tune!).

However, I'll say it again - the smart money is getting the WB sensor up front!

A WB also lets you run non stoich AF ratios. So you can run a bit lean at cruise for economy and rich at WOT for max safe accel. Some systems get around the latter by going open loop beyond a certain throttle angle. If it were me, I'd get the WB and Thruster from Frank.
